A privately run hotel accommodation in Saint-Bernard, a village in the Ain department, Le Clos du Chêne must be one of the friendliest 4 star hotels in Saint-Bernard France. Le Clos du Chêne is in a large private park with a horse pasture, an outdoor swimming pool, a pétanque pitch, and a children’s play area. Guests can use the rowing machine, step machine, or exercise bike in the fitness room, or enjoy a book or a board game in the cosy library on the mezzanine. There’s also a sauna, a ping pong table, and bicycle hire (extra charges apply). If alerted in advance, one of the proprietors, who has studied under some of the best chefs in Lyon, can prepare dinner for guests. The wine cellar features a choice selection of individual wines, specializing in those from the Beaujolais region. Saint-Bernard in the Ain department (not to be confused with several other French towns also named Saint Bernard) is located along the Saône River, approx. 7.8 km/4.8 miles south of Villefranche sur Saône. Saint-Bernard’s village church and small castle are within walking distance of Le Clos du Chêne. The medieval town of Trévoux is 3.5 km/2.2 miles to the east. Other attractions include a nearby bird sanctuary and the cities of Bourg-en-Bresse and Lyon.
